RECOVERY
CrossFit is hard physically and mentally. When you train, your body breaks down. What you do AFTER the workout determines how quickly your body repairs, strengthens, and recovers. Recovery is just as important as training. Without proper recovery, you will never know your true potential.
People often ask Steve and me what we do for recovery. We do it ALL and then some: Good nutrition using Zone principles, sleep as much as possible, drink a ton of water, massage, make time for trigger point therapy, soak in the hot tub, take Epsom salt baths, stretch, do yoga, meditate, supplement, and strategically place non-training days and rest weeks in our training plan.
As I have gotten older, I have found it harder and harder for my body to recover. I can put out the work, I just struggle with the aftermath. Recovery is crucial to my progress. The same goes for you. Experiment and figure out what works best for you. If you would like more information on any of the above, feel free to post in the comment section or email me.
